It is a popular martial dance in the areas of southern Kerala and Lakshwadeep. Kol means stick and Pasricha mean shield. The dancers use mock weapons made of wood and enact fight sequences. The performance starts at a slow pace, but slowly builds up the tempo and reaches a climax in a frenzy.
